A Haircut

Hi folks, Jon Wennstrom here!  This week, I got a haircut. Hardly big news...or so I thought until I walked into the kindergarten and first grade classrooms.  Students suddenly stopped their lessons and began to point in shocked amazement.  "You got a haircut!" they shouted.  I couldn't deny it, they were right:)  I soon began to realize how observant our students were and how closely they watched me.  Then I began to think about what an awesome responsibility that is.  If they watched my hair growth that closely, certainly they must watch my behavior and tone. With all those eyes on me, am I being the role model at all times that they need?  Am I living the Three to Be and the 7 Habits that I try to instill in them?  I think so, but it was a good reminder that students (and all children) do as we do and not as we say. It made me think that I need to be, at all times, what I expect our students to be and to be an inspiration for them and someone they can look up to. As parents, your children look to you first to see what kind of adults they want to grow up to be. Let's all remember that students notice much more than just our haircuts...they notice everything.

2nd Grade will be conducting another Goodfellow's Canned Food Drive for Youth Making a Difference!

Mrs. Limberg - Resource Room Teacher

Hello Rosedale Community! My name is Shannon Limberg. I am the Resource Room Teacher at Rosedale Elementary. This is my fifth year at Rosedale and my 12th year teaching.  My prior teaching experiences in Livonia have been at Cass Elementary and Riley Upper Elementary.  I have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University, a Master’s of Special Education with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities from Wayne State and a Master’s of Reading and certified Reading Specialist from Madonna University. I am married to my husband Dan and we have a 5 month old son named Kruze. We also have a Siberian Husky named Nika (Neeka). Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, decorating, gardening, and boating on Lake St. Clair. Over the summer, we traveled by boat to Lexington, Michigan with our son and 4 other boats. It was beautiful.

One of my goals this year is to incorporate technology into my classroom lessons. I love using my computer and interactive whiteboard to demonstrate and model lessons for my auditory and visual learners. I also have a school iPad and two student computers that I use for additional educational resources and games.

Five words I used to describe my classroom are FUN, supportive, innovative, engaging and caring.

  • Congratulations to Mrs. Benson's class and Mrs. Casucci's class for winning their Pizza Parties for the walk-a-thon pledges!
  • Please contact Lynn Renberg at if you can volunteer to help with the Trunk or Treat event!
  • We are still signing people up for PTA memberships. Please contact Cara Williams at for more information.

Did you know that Rosedale is a Targeted Title I school?  That means we receive federal money to offer remediation serves for students struggling in our core academic areas. Our primary targets are reading and math interventions. We will be hosting a parent information meeting on Thursday, November 5 at 6:00 pm, prior to our PTA meeting to share out what programs we have and answer any questions parents may have about Title I.  Great things are happening at Rosedale!
