Data Driven

Hi folks, Jon Wennstrom here! One of the things we strive for at Rosedale is to base our decisions on data. That means we look at all available information when we determine who needs extra intervention, what that intervention will be, and if the intervention is working. To help us look at all three of these areas, we have scheduled "Data Dives" where we get our Achievement Team together and meet with every teacher on every child. This is an all day process that happens several times a year, but it really helps us improve learning for all students. Teachers often have good instincts about how best to help a student learn, but it's important to match our instincts with what the data tells us as well. I'm proud of the dedication our teachers show in finding ways to help students. Together, we are helping all students succeed!

Sherry Lynn Nadon - First Grade Teacher

My name is Sherry Lynn Nadon and I love teaching!  I have been teaching first grade for ten years and this is my 20th year of teaching. I attended Western Michigan University for my undergraduate studies and the University of Michigan for my graduate degree. I have been married to my loving husband, Tim for 15 years and we have two very active young little girls – Shaelie, 7 and Tessa, 5. When I am not busy teaching, I like to read, knit, travel, and spend time with my family.

My goal for this year is to help the children find their inner voice and find the confidence to express it. The 5 words that best describe my classroom are safe, cheerful, kind, fun, and flexible.

  • Box Tops Boys vs Girls Box Top Competition is going on now through January 28th. Boxes are in the lobby. Please help Rosedale PTA by sending in your box tops. They are a vital part of raising money to help support extracurricular activities at Rosedale, such as the Spring Fling, school assemblies and more! Every box top helps!
  • Daddy Daughter Dance:  Registrations are due by Thursday, January 28. The Dance will be Friday, February 5!

Did you know that all our classrooms utilize various technology resources to help make teaching and learning more interactive for our students? Each classroom has an interactive white board that teachers and students can use for videos, demonstrations, and even student work. Each room also has a minimum of one student computer and two iPads. In addition to classroom tools, students have access to the computer lab for research projects, computer coding, and additional instruction in reading and math. Great things are happening at Rosedale!
