Happy 2016!

Hi folks, Jon Wennstrom here! It's hard to believe, but 2016 is here! One of the great things about working in a school is that we get to have two fresh starts each year. The traditional fresh start at the beginning of each academic year and also the fresh start of a new calendar year with all its resolutions and plans for improvement. I think it's a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to try something new, give increased effort, and refocus on what they wish to accomplish this year. Like last year, I gave up resolutions for One Word to be my guiding principle throughout the year. This year, I selected the word "Gratitude". Let me start by saying how grateful I am to work at Rosedale and for all the support received from students, staff, and parents! What will your One Word be for this year?

Wednesday, January 6: Student of the Month Assembly for "Be Proactive"
Thursday, January 7: PTA Executive Committee 5:30 pm
LPS Reflections (Arts) Ceremony at Stevenson High School 7:00 pm
(Please note there will NOT be a general PTA meeting this month, due to the                                                Reflections Ceremony. The next PTA meeting will be Thursday, February 4)
Friday, January 8: PTA Skate Night at Riverside Arena 6:00-8:00 pm

Monday, January 18: No School for MLK Day

Thursday, January 28: End of the Marking Period (and Semester)
Friday, January 29: No School for students (Teacher Records Day)

Did you know that Livonia Public Schools has hired Andrea Oquist as our new superintendent? Not only has she been with LPS her entire career as a teacher, principal, and parent, her most recent position was as the Director of Elementary Programs. This makes her very familiar with our school and staff and how elementary schools operate. I know we at Rosedale along will all the other buildings throughout the district are thrilled to have her as our new superintendent. Great things are happening at Rosedale!
