Memorial Day

Hi folks, Jon Wennstrom here! As we enjoy our three day weekend, I would like to express my gratitude for all the fallen soldiers that made it possible to enjoy the freedoms we as Americans celebrate this weekend. I hope it was a happy and safe holiday for all of our Rosedale families. I received many questions on Friday from students if we would have our "Celebrate Monday" assembly this week on Tuesday. While we are not moving our Monday assembly to Tuesday, it made me very happy to hear from students that they enjoyed them and were looking forward to the next one (which will be next week:).  Enjoy the rest of the weekend and we look forward to seeing the students back on Tuesday!

Did you know these facts about Memorial Day?

  • Memorial Day was first celebrated in 1868 to commemorate the fallen soldiers from the Civil War.
  • On Memorial Day, the flag should be at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff.
  • Memorial Day was first called "Decoration Day".
  • Memorial Day was declared a federal holiday in 1971.
Enjoy the weekend and remember, Great things are happening at Rosedale!
