Shadow a Student Challenge

Hi folks, Jon Wennstrom here! You may remember that last year, I participated in the "Shadow a Student" challenge with a third grade student. This year, I joined a second grade classroom and followed a student named Jack. Jack is new to our school this year and it was a great chance to get to know him and also to see what it's like to be a student again. I got to do math problems, I participated in art class, and I got to play at recess with the kids. It was great to see how nice the students are to one another (and me) and it was exciting to participate in their activities. A question that is often asked of educators is "Would you want to be a student in your own school?".  Well, I can tell you after a second time of shadowing a student, my answer is a profound "YES!".

It was fun to be back in second grade!!

Margaret Streffon - Transportation Supervisor

My official title is Transportation supervisor. I grew up in Livonia, and am a graduate of LPS. My husband and I still live in the district, and my daughter is an LPS graduate as well.  I have worked in the district for 34 years, starting as a bus driver in 1982, then moving into the office as a dispatcher in 2006, then to an assistant supervisor in 2008. I have been the supervisor since the fall of 2014.

A goal I have for this year is to hire and train enough staff to fully support the district with the upcoming school closures.

Five words I would use to describe the district are empowering, supportive, exciting, inspiring, and committed.

  • Thank you to all our volunteers for making the Daddy Daughter Dance such a wonderful night for all the couples!
  • Thank you for all your support for the 4th graders Youth Making a Difference MDA project. Your support makes a difference in people's lives!
  • February 24th- Popcorn Friday
  • February 25th- Last day to turn in your box tops!
  • February 27th- Spanish Club

  • Congratulations to Joe Libtow and Maria Ackerman for their Distinguished Service awards at the Livonia PTSA Founder's Day banquet. Thank you for everything thing you do!!
  • Students brought home information last week about our annual Pizza Kit fundraiser. Orders are due by March 1st, and need to be picked up on March 8th. This is a great way to stock up on quick dinners for your family, while earning money for the school! Please contact Lynn with any questions at

Did you know that two members of our Rosedale community were honored at this year's PTA Founder's Day Banquet? Mr. Joe Libtow and Mrs. Maria Ackerman were both given "Shining Star" awards for their dedication and commitment to Rosedale. It's the dedication of our staff and our volunteers that makes our school and our district such a great place to be. Great things are happening at Rosedale!
